Ida Seiferd, LCSW
In 2006 Ida earned a Bachelors of Social Work degree from the University of Nevada, Reno. From 2005-2011 she worked as a child welfare case worker. Then earned a Masters of Social Work degree from the University of Denver in 2012.
In addition to becoming a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) in 2015, she is now trained in addiction counseling. Post-graduate training and certifications include: Animal Assisted Social Work Certificate from the University Graduate School of Social Work (2012), Reiki I and II Healer (2016), Equine Assisted EMDR from Equilateral (2018), EMDR (2017), 200hr and 300hr Yoga Teacher Training (2022-2024), and Eating Disorders Treatment Certification (2024).
Ida is highly trained and experienced in treating trauma from a variety of models, including: Alternatives for Families CBT (2013), Complex Trauma in Adolescents (2014), Trauma and Attachment Treatment (2016), Trauma-Focused Equine Assisted Psychotherapy (2016), EMDR (2017), Trauma, Attachment and Neuroscience (2017), and EMDR with Complex Trauma and Dissociation in Children (2018), Complex PTSD and Dissociation (2021), Internal Family Systems Therapy (2021 and 2024), and Treating Narcissistic Abuse (2024).
Ida was the winner of the 2022 Fremont Exception Women (FEW) Norma Hatfield Award for Professional Achievement. Each year FEW accepts applications to honor fifteen women deserving of recognition for excellence. Ida was acknowledged for her professional contributions.
She is a co-author of the book Innovative Skills to Support Well-Being and Resiliency in Youth, in which she contributed a chapter on animal-assisted therapy.
Ida has completed an Eating Disorders Treatment certification from Lewis & Clark College and currently the only therapist in Fremont County that provides outpatient treatment for people with eating disorders.
She has completed 500 hours of Yoga Teacher Training and an additional 60 hours of trauma informed yoga, enabling her to incorporate yoga practices into treatment. This is an optional modality for helping with body-image, empowerment, trauma, and self-compassion.
Ida loves nature and animals. To rejuvenate, she enjoys riding/training her horses, hiking, gardening, spending time with her family, reading and learning, and photography.
Arby is 4 years old. Our family adopted him to be a part of the therapy program sweet and fun nature.
Billy aka Armstrong Bill is an 8-year-old prior racehorse. He only raced a few times and was adopted by Ida and moved to Colorado. He is a very sweet and playful boy and loves to be around people. Billy is young and athletic with a short attention span and is learning how to be still and patient. Ida is training him in dressage, which is a riding style that is like ballet for horses.
Ike is a 4-year-old Percheron Standardbred from Kentucky. He knows many tricks. He is quiet and calm, but because he is young, he is learning about appropriate boundaries.
Tigger is very important to have around for rodent control, which helps keep the horses healthy. He likes attention from people and is very good at his job.
