A new group is emerging!

group therapy, equine therapy, horse therapy, experiential therapy

“In every walk with nature, one receives far more than s/he seeks” ~John Muir. I am creating a Women’s Healing Retreat. This is a 2-day (maybe overnight?) group held in the mountains. The focus is healing from trauma through the incredible collective strength and power of women; experiential therapy; mindfulness in nature; and equine assisted therapy/equine assisted EMDR approaches. If you, or someone you know, would be interested in piloting this group, please contact me for more information.

Playing enhances cognitive development in humans and animals

The functions of animal play are the same for humans. According to Bekoff and Byers (1998), playing facilitates learning, enhances cognitive development, increases response actions, and improves the ability to “read” and react to complex environmental conditions. It also facilitates healthy attachment that can be extended and generalized  from one relationship to another, Van Fleet (2008).

New Information!

This summer was a time for change. New horse additions, a new cat, the wooden bridge was replaced with a culvert which inadvertently created a pond, and the new office!
